The Razor Wrestling Club is proud to announce that it has named Excel Rehab & Sports Therapy, the club's official sports injury care advisors & providers. What this means to Razor club members is quick and easy access to Suffolks leading sports injury care providers. The key to injury prevention is education while minimizing injury is accomplished through early intervention. Having a minor injury evaluated by a sports therapist that understands wrestling related injuries, and this great sport in general, will minimize the impact the injury has on the wrestlers ability to practice, prepare and participate in matches. Excel will provide educational information for Razor wrestlers, on subjects important to all wrestlers health maintenance.

Razor wrestlers can call the Excel office closest to their home and arrange to be screened or evaluated by a sports physical therapist. The evaluation to club members is at no charge. The wrestler ( and parent ) will be advised on the best course of action to manage the injury or minimize the discomfort which is sometimes training related and not an injury at all. Razor club members will not be charged for these services.

Excel Rehab & Sports Therapy has 3 convenient locations in Suffolk County, West Islip, East Islip and Lake Ronkonkoma. Excel's director, Ray Nelson is well known to the wrestling community on Long Island. Ray is an athletic trainer who was a scholastic wrestler. He is an original member of the NYSPHSAA sports medicine advisory committee on wrestling. He has served as the wrestling minimum weight consultant to Suffolk County since the programs inception in 1997, and coordinated the mass testing which takes place at the beginning of each season. He is the editor of "Ready Wrestle", a wrestling healthcare newsletter, sports medicine editor for the Long Island Wrestling Association website ( www.longislandwrestling.com ) , and has consulted hundreds of wrestlers on wrestling related injury and health issues. Excel director of sports therapy, Brian Becker, MAPT, has cared for many of Suffolks most accomplished wrestlers, and is considered one of the areas most knowledgeable and skilled sports therapists. Brian directs the West Islip site. Greg Neilsen, MSPT, directs the Lake Ronkonkoma site and Steve Cicalese, MPT directs the East Islip location. Experienced sports therapists with a knowledge of wrestling issues and demands.
